Abstract

Many studies have sought to learn whether carbon dioxide emissions follow such an inverted-U path, with a variety of mixed results. In this paper economic growth, population growth and per capita energy use variables along with rarely used measures of political and economic freedom were used to see how they influence CO2 emissions and the scope of any potential Environment Kuznets Curve in neighbor countries of IRAN. Therefor random effects of panel data approaches over the periods 2005-2015 were used to investigate the effects of political freedom and economic freedom on CO2 emissions. The results showed that political freedom has significantly negative effects on CO2 emission. While economic freedom significantly affects CO2 emission. As well as the results confirmed KEC in in neighbor countries of Iran. According to the results per capita energy use has significantly positive effects on CO2 emission, but population growth has no significantly effects on CO2 emission.
