Abstract

Today, one of the current needs in municipal waste management system design communities is to monitor waste. However, in the waste management system, depending on the amount of waste generation and composition, there are different management options that involve different environmental burdens in addition to economic costs. Therefore, it is necessary to take a comprehensive look at the different ways of waste management in societies in order to find the option that has the least environmental impact. the present study investigates the environmental impacts of different waste management options in Chahar Bagh using life cycle approach. For this purpose, after reviewing and identifying the current status of waste management of Chahar Bagh and the quantity and quality of the types of waste and existing methods for waste disposal in the city, it has attempted to define and model different scenarios according to the conditions of Chahar Bagh. The results showed that out of the five scenarios modeled for the Chahar Bagh waste management system, the fourth scenario was selected as the best environmental option. Also the third scenario, which somehow reflects the current conditions of waste management in Chahar Bagh, was selected as the worst scenario in terms of environment
