Abstract

The assessment of the ecological capability of the land is the core of land surveying which has an important role in regional planning. Selection of the type and distribution of land use based on ecological capability is the main management objectives in reducing the effects of natural disasters. In this regard, the zoning project and mapping of north forests macro applications were done based on ecological capability assessments. This study was conducted in Chehel chai (Golestan province), Beliran, Dohezar and Sehezar (Mazandaran province) and Fariroud and Zilakiroud (Guilan province) areas. In zoning and mapping studies have been attempted delivery to decision makers by using multi-criteria decision-making models to measure ecological potential in this habitat in addition to reveling balanced areas for the macro applications developments such as irrigation agriculture, drought agriculture, rangelands, forestry, rural settlement, tourism and conservation, spatial and programmable capacities for multiple use of environmental potentials in Hyrcanian forests. According to the results, it is suggested apply to prioritize usage by providing metrics of possible applications for a site by ecological capabilities and measuring their relative advantage (economic, political, social).
