چکیده English

The main purpose of this research is to investigate the role of environmental education of citizens in urban waste management. According to Cochran's sampling method, 382 citizens over 15 years old of Damavand city were selected as a statistical sample. To measure the variables of the research, a researcher-made questionnaire and answer package were used. To determine the validity of the questionnaire, the content validity ratio (CVR) index and its reliability were also measured by Cronbach's alpha with the help of SPSS 23 software, and it was determined to be 0.84. Kolmogorov and Smirnov tests were used to determine the normality of the data. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient test and multivariate regression. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between the two variables of environmental education of citizens and waste management, and between the two variables of waste segregation knowledge and waste segregation behavior at the 95% confidence level, and 50% of waste management is explained by the demographic characteristics of citizens. And the scale of gender, age and education of citizens has a significant relationship on waste management. For gender difference, waste management changes were 3.38, for different ages, 1.72, and for education, 0.59 standard deviations were obtained. The average value of waste management in women is significantly higher than that of men, the average value of waste management in ages (36-45 years) is higher than other ages, and the average value of waste management of citizens with master's education is higher than other people with other educations. Education of different sections of the society including men and women in all age groups and with different levels of education can be of great help in improving urban waste management
Introduction
Waste management is a set of regulations related to the control of production, storage, collection, transportation, processing and disposal of waste in accordance with the best principles of public health, economics, engineering sciences, environmental protection, aesthetics and other environmental considerations. And it is also the attitude of the public. Although people can play a role in all stages of waste control and management, the effect of their cooperation and participation is more obvious in the stages of production, temporary storage and recycling. If the social consumption pattern changes, its role in reducing the amount of waste will be significant. The key to success in waste management systems is the awareness and participation of the general public in its programs, the presence of informed service recipients, not only in order to advance effective goals but it will reduce the costs due to their responsible cooperation and support. In addition, the training of the people working in the waste management system as the primary operators to reduce and control pollution from the source should be a constant and continuous principle before starting work and It should be taken into consideration during employment. Therefore, in order to manage urban affairs, including cleaning and waste generation and disposal of waste materials in their neighborhood, citizens need proper citizenship training in this field so that they can have a better action in relation to waste in their neighborhood. It helps the citizen to go through his life path in the neighborhood in a shorter time and with less cost and in a more normative way. In environmental education, the learner will have the ability to analyze the environmental issues around him and will have an active mind to find and solve issues. In environmental education, a comprehensive attitude towards the changed environment and feeling responsible for its improvement, in environmental education, a holistic systemic attitude prevails, and economic, social and cultural aspects are also considered in the study of issues. It is possible, environmental education pays attention to the economic, cultural and social characteristics of the same region in examining and providing solutions to environmental issues, and the most important indicator for evaluating environmental education is quantity and quality. Practical action and change is among the audience.
Due to the fact that Damavand city is located in a green and lush area and due to the location of Damavand region at the junction of the borders of three important regions of the country in Iran (Tehran, Mazandaran, Semnan), The importance of this area is increasing. The moderate climate, the diversity of the region's climate, attracts many tourists, travelers and immigrants to this city every year. This factor has caused extensive constructions and population increase in this area. Due to the important position of Damavand city as a city that attracts the population of Tehran, the amount of pollution and waste in the city has increased. Therefore, the main goal of this research is to evaluate the effects of citizen environmental education on urban waste management in Damavand city. Considering the importance of urban governance and the role of people and their participation in urban management, paying attention to the education of citizens in the field of waste management can be effective in managing this urban problem and while reducing environmental problems and urban pollution, it can be the necessary background for Citizens' awareness of the waste situation of their city.

Methodology
The statistical population of the present study includes all citizens over 15 years of age in Damavand, whose number is 55,000 according to official statistics. Cochran's sampling method was used to determine the statistical sample size. Using Cochran's sampling method, 382 citizens over 15 years old of Damavand city were selected as a statistical sample with a sampling error of 0.05. Then, in the next step, they were distributed among 382 citizens using a simple random method and a questionnaire. To measure the variables of the research, a researcher-made questionnaire with an answer package was used. The questionnaire measures 3 components (waste segregation education, waste segregation knowledge and waste segregation behavior). Questionnaires should be distributed among different classes of citizens of Damavand city with different genders, different age groups, different education levels and among the owners of all kinds of jobs, so that a number of questionnaires were distributed in public and private offices among the employees and personnel of the offices, some in schools. Among teachers, administrators, school staff, students and their parents, some were distributed among local traders and sellers, athletes and housewives. So that all different strata are included in the statistical population of the research and the questionnaires are distributed among all of them so that the research data is collected based on the opinions of all of them. Content Validity Ratio (CVR) index was used to determine the validity of the questionnaire. This index was designed by Lavshe. To calculate this index, the opinions of 8 experts in the field environmental education and waste management were used.
The reliability of the questionnaire was measured by Cronbach's alpha with the help of SPSS software, the results show that the questions of the questionnaire have an acceptable internal correlation. Kolmogorov and Smirnov tests were used to determine the normality of the data. Considering the higher significance level of the test (0.120 in waste segregation training, 0.114 in waste segregation knowledge and 0.607 in waste segregation behavior) it is determined from 0.05 that the data is normal and the researcher can use parametric tests for data analysis.

Conclusion
The correlation coefficient between the two investigated factors, waste separation knowledge and waste separation behavior is equal to 0.572 and with a significant level (Sig = 0.002). The calculated significance level is less than (α=0.05), which shows that there is a significant relationship between the two variables of waste segregation knowledge and waste segregation behavior at the 95% confidence level. The results of the analysis of variance in Table 3 show that the significance level calculated for this statistic is 0.000 and it shows that the regression is significant at the 99% level (0.000). Therefore, environmental education of citizens plays an effective role in urban waste management. The statistical results of the model fit, the value of the correlation coefficient is equal to 0.885 and the value of the determination coefficient is 0.783, and this value shows that 78.3% of the waste management of the citizens of Damavand city is affected by their environmental education. The results of the analysis of variance in table (4) show that the significance level calculated for this statistic is equal to 0.000 and it shows that the regression is significant at the 99% level (sig=0.000).The dependent variable of waste management entered in the regression equation is the core of the regression analysis. Environmental education predicts citizens' waste management in a significant way that with an increase of one standard deviation in the score of environmental education, the citizens' waste management score will increase by 0.68 standard deviations
