The purpose of this study was to investigate the environmental knowledge, attitude and behavior of municipal employees. In this descriptive-correlational study, 276 employees (208 males and 68 females) were selected from Yazd city municipality staff using probability sampling method and completed researcher-made questionnaires of attitude, awareness and environmental behavior. Data analysis using one-sample t-test, multiple regression, independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance revealed that employees' environmental awareness was lower than average but their attitude and environmental behavior were higher than average. Regression analysis showed that both attitude and environmental awareness were positive and significant predictors of environmental behavior. In addition, the level of education of employees was related to their environmental attitudes but was not related to environmental awareness or behavior. The more educated employees had a more positive environmental attitude. Employees' job experience was also correlated with their environmental behavior and employees with 10-20 years of job experience had higher environmental behavior.
